Water Quality
Beginning in 1970, the USGS partnered with conservancy districts and municipalities to study the water quality in the Arkansas Basin. These studies continue today through a partnership between the USGS and the Arkansas Basin Regional Resource Planning Group. The Planning Group consists of: The Upper Arkansas Water Conservancy District, Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District, Lower Arkansas Valley Water Conservancy District, Pueblo Board of Water Works, Colorado Springs Utilities, City of Aurora, and the Colorado Water Conservation Board. Over the past 40+ years, the partnership has delivered several comprehensive reports on the quality of water in the Arkansas Basin and continues today between USGS and the Arkansas Basin Regional Resource Planning Group.
