Augmentation Services 

The Upper Arkansas Water Conservancy District, through its plan of augmentation, has available for purchase replacement water, which may be used by individuals to apply for permits or approvals from the Division of Water Resources​ to: 
  • Drill a new well;
  • Expand the use of an existing well;
  • Replace pond evaporation; or, 
  • Replace water used from a surface diversion. 
Other types of replacement water purchases can be made, such as non-permanent uses for pond evaporation. To inquire about these additional services please visit or call our office. 

Are You Within Our Augmentation Boundaries? ​  

Our augmentation services are available for the above described purposes for all areas that are defined in the District's "Blue Line" augmentation plan boundaries. The Blue Line covers most areas in Chaffee County and western Fremont County. If you are in Chaffee or western Fremont counties, please stop by or call our office to determine whether your property is within our service area.

  • Legal Description of the Property - 1/4 Section, 1/4 Section, Township, and Range 

What Does Participation in the District's Standard Augmentation Plan Provide? 

The "Base Unit" of augmentation to be offered through the District's augmentation plan is 0.10 acre-feet of replacement water.
​A typical base unit (one unit of augmentation) for the purposes of well pumping includes:
  • Domestic household use and approximately 1,400 square feet of lawn or garden 
  • All other uses (pond evaporation, surface diversion) are unique and must be assessed through the District Office

Augmentation Application and Transfer Form ​

Use this application when purchasing augmentation or when preparing to drill a well for household and outside uses. This application also applies to augmentation for ponds and surface diversions. Please contact our office if you have questions or need additional information. 

For temporary or curtailable uses, please contact our office for more information. 
When selling a property that already has augmentation this form is used to transfer augmentation to the new owner. This is most commonly handled by the title company during the closing process.
