Awesome Aquifers
The District has been an ongoing participant in the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association's annual 6th grade field trip in Salida. For several years we have led an Awesome Aquifer's station, teaching kids about the interaction between groundwater and surface water and the potential for alluvial storage. In 2019, along with several other organizations, we partnered with Canon City Exploratory School in a full day of water activities and education for 3rd and 4th grade students. We love the opportunity to teach about water and building aquifer models with kids is a fun way to do it!
