Gregory W. Felt
Associate Manager
Greg Felt has built his life around his family and the Arkansas River. A fly-fishing guide and outfitter for over 30 years, he began to immerse himself in water law and management around 1998. Since then, he has served 14 years on the Board of the Upper Arkansas Water Conservancy District, 3 years on the Board of Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District, and in January was appointed by the Governor to represent the Arkansas River Basin on the Colorado Water Conservation Board. “Running rivers helped me learn to see pathways,” says Felt. “And studying water issues taught me how to draw connections and negotiate creatively.” These traits have been helpful over the last three years in his service as Chaffee County Commissioner. He lives in Salida with his wife, Susan.
A fly-fishing guide and outfitter for over 30 years, Greg Felt’s early interest in water was closely tied to fishery health and the Voluntary Flow Management Program.
Greg Felt is Chairman of the Chaffee County Board of Commissioners and liaison to the Common Ground Board. He also serves as Co-Lead of Envision Chaffee County and was a driving force behind the ballot measure which authorized funding for the program. A fly-fishing guide and outfitter for over 30 years (co-owner of ArkAnglers, LLC), Greg has had a deep and lasting involvement regarding natural resource issues and water. He has served on the state’s outfitter licensing Board, the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area Citizen’s Task Force, and the Colorado Advisory Board for the Trust for Public Land. In the water world, he is Vice-Chairman of the Board for the Upper Arkansas Water Conservancy District, represents Chaffee County on the Board of the Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District, and was appointed in 2020 by Governor Polis to serve as the Arkansas River Basin representative on the Colorado Water Conservation Board.
