Education Plan
In 2017, the Upper Arkansas Water Conservancy District worked with a consultant to develop a comprehensive education plan to expand outreach and education efforts. The goals were to engage the public through well-informed discourse regarding local water challenges and to offer balanced educational programming and resources in the Upper Arkansas Basin.
Since that time, the UAWCD has developed a comprehensive website full of water education information, has created educational videos, and offers a monthly water education column which is published in local newspapers throughout the region and is featured on the “water news” blog of the website. UAWCD also developed new educational literature and hosts various events and educational programming throughout the year including the annual Water Fest in Salida and Buena Vista.
